Saving Time When Setting up K2 Categories: Inheriting Parameter Options

When you set up a new category in K2, there are over 100 options. There is a way you can save yourself time by setting all of your options up for one category, and then copying these options to any additional K2 category you add.
As an example, you are able to set:
  • Category item layout
  • Category view options
  • Item image options
  • Item view options in category listings
  • Item view options
There are a lot of options to set for each category you add to your website/blog! Here is an easier way that will save you time:
  • Make a list of the categories you are going to want to have on your website.
  • Group the categories together that you are going to want to have the same layout for (for example, you may have four blog categories)
  • In the first category, go through and set all of your options
  • Save
Now, when you go to create the next category that you want to have the same layout, you will see under details on the right upper hand size, four lines down, a drop down box for Inherit parameter options from category. Just choose the category that you set all of your options for, and you are good to go.

That's all there is to it!
